Our Itinerary: Sydney to Oslo

We commence our trip leaving from Sydney, Australia and flying to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 25th 2008. The motorcycle, a BMW R1200GS is our only means of transport as we ride from Kuala Lumpur through South East Asia onwards and upwards to Norway.

Originally we planned to cross into China, traversing China from South East to North West and joining the Silk Road in Northern China before entering Kyrygzstan and continue through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan and Georgia. However due to the Chinese communists too scared to let a harmless couple on a BMW enter we had to change our plans.

Our motorcycle journey covers two continents and 25 countries over 10 months, however this is bound to change and flexibility is the key.

As with all things a plan is bound to change and for all our planning and good intentions we have had to make several deviations from the above itinerary. There are many factors at play whether it is cost, border crossings, chinese bureaucracy, political instability or even war that one way or another determine our actual route.

So we have included the revised itinerary here to indicate where we have travelled and where we plan to travel next given our present set of circumstances.
